How to make iPhone ringtones using iTunes (free)

It's really easy to use iTunes to make free ring tones for your iPhone. All you need to do is pick the 40 seconds or less of the song you want to turn into a ring tone and convert it.

Step 1: Find the song, click it (right click in Windows) and select "Get Info."

Step 2: Select on the Option Tab and change the start and end times. Select the segment of time that you want to use as the ring tone, but it must be less than 40 seconds. I usually use 20 seconds or so.

Step 3: Convert the song to AAC format. Select the song (right click in Windows) and convert it to AAC.

Step 4: Select your newly converted song (it will be only as long as the segment of time from step 2) and browse for the folder containing it. When you click the song it gives you an option to view in folder or explorer. Rename the song and change the extension to .m4r.

Step 5: Delete the song from iTunes that you just made (its useless) and than double click on the file you just renamed to .m4r.

    All done.

now you just have to ssh from your computer to your jailbreaked phone via winscp on your wireless network or anywhere u have internet access for that matter and copy the file to the Ringtones folder. U're really done now, the new ringtone is in your list with the others.
