I'm a technologist at heart with a passion for emerging products and early stage companies.  Simple timing put me in the right place at the right time and gave me several opportunities to help shape the Internet during its formative years.  My education came via hands-on product development, a stint at NYU and side-by-side work with some of the most innovative minds in software.

    The Web 2.0 Cooking School

I'm an avid cook constantly on the look out for new skills and new methods. My method for cooking is to sample a variety of recipes from the web and cookbooks and create a new and unique recipe based upon my tastes. When it comes to find reliable and well described recipes and cooking methods I'm typically relying on Epicurios and AllRecipes. Both have great search engines and significant depth. Both of these sites also have sponsored recipes that call for pre-canned mixes or spice concoctions that I don't subscribe to using, so just ignore them like I do.

With my background in digital media and web development I pay close attention to features and usability as well as production quality. Despite the value of Epicurious and AllRecipes for simply providing great laundry lists of items and written "how-tos," they both fall far short from my favorite cooking site, Rouxbe. I just received another sponsored membership from them, and felt compelled to ensure that everyone is aware of this site.

Rouxbe is a pay site, but in exchange for answering some surveys and providing feedback to their sponsors (all of which are cooking / wine companies), you can receive free 90 day memberships. The production quality, depth of knowledge and video tutorials, as well as over-all feeling and end-user relationship of this site raise the bar for all online educational / how-to websites. In a few words, Rouxbe is simply amazing.
