I'm a technologist at heart with a passion for emerging products and early stage companies.  Simple timing put me in the right place at the right time and gave me several opportunities to help shape the Internet during its formative years.  My education came via hands-on product development, a stint at NYU and side-by-side work with some of the most innovative minds in software.

    Business Intelligence

Describing anything as “Business Intelligence” always seemed a little presumptuous to me. We just received our first full code drop of an implementation of Pentaho that was built by OpenBI. The project has been a great experience. We did something that was very new to me, we finished designing a product by first building the BI layer.

Instead of looking at the application from implementation and use, we looked at through the eyes of an analyst. Essentially we generated the perfect set of data, and then went back and designed the application so we can accomplish the data capture. As boring as that sentence may have just sounded, it was really exciting.

In the next few weeks we will be opening up the beta invitation program for softANCHOR Audit. It’s simple and sweet, and the BI layer is the gravy.
