I'm a technologist at heart with a passion for emerging products and early stage companies.  Simple timing put me in the right place at the right time and gave me several opportunities to help shape the Internet during its formative years.  My education came via hands-on product development, a stint at NYU and side-by-side work with some of the most innovative minds in software.

    A Gamers Perspective

Google Alerts fed me an email today from www.RomSteady.net.  This blog posting is written by someone who describes himself as a “gamer,” and clearly spends too much money on retail entertainment (I’m not one to speak, trust me!).  Michael Russell provides a great perspective on the licensing and DRM situation that software publishers are facing right now.  I recommend you read this: Rom's Rants

From Michael Russell: “I still believe in the first sale doctrine. You should be able to lend, rent, etc., any licensed software that you have. But I do support the right of the company that issued the license to ensure that if you do lend or rent your software that you aren't using it while it is out of your possession.”

    Thank you for the link.

And yes, I am a gamer, but with over seven years of experience working in the games industry, I'd like to think I bring a little bit of perspective to gaming that many people seem to gloss over.
