Microsoft Prepares to Launch Pre-Paid Software Cards in India

Microsoft currently allows its consumers in Brazil to purchase software using pre-paid cards. These cards, which cost 50% of the software price to get started, allow user's to add minutes to their software use. Just like a cell phone, if you have minutes, you can use the software. Eventually when the consumers purchase a certain number of minutes the software becomes fully activated.

MS plans to take this approach to India where piracy estimates are above 70%. This program is currently a success in Brazil. MS did not say exactly when it would be released for India.
