The Garden State Taxes iTunes
Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 7:13PM I'm actually from New Jersey so its hard for me to speak negatively of the state. That being said, NJ is taking a step beyond where it should be in terms of what it taxes and how. 7 online reports that Jon Corzine has successfully passed the sales tax increase from 6% to 7% as well as increasing the list of what is taxed.
This new list includes a wide array of oddities, from iTunes downloads to tattoos and shipping and handling charges. So now not only are you over charged for shipping boxes, but taxed as well. Also on this list: armored cars. I don't feel too bad about armored cars, since if you have enough money to need one, you most likely can afford the tax.
